Ayurvedic massages

Massage is an excellent way to relax and rejuvenate your mind, body and senses! What type of massage really creates an incredible experience? There are many different techniques – you can go for a deep tissue massage or a more superficial and restorative one. Or maybe it’s something you’ve never tried before, like an Ayurvedic massage, which combines the 5,000-year-old principles of Ayurveda, the science of life. This type of massage maintains balance between mind, body and spirit. Ayurvedic massage is specific and customized, where herbally processed warm oils are used as per the individual requisite. Unlike other types of massages, Ayurvedic massages have immense therapeutic features.
In Ayurveda, there are five primary elements that are present in all living beings – and are considered the building blocks of life. They combine to create the doshas: Vata (air and space), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (water and earth). Each of us inherits a unique combination of three doshas, although one is usually more dominant. Ayurveda principles give the guidance for balancing the doshas to manage physical and emotional health.
During an Ayurvedic massage, medicinal oils promote relaxation and detoxification. They are selected individually by a specialist to balance a person’s dominant dosha. Warm oils penetrate the body through the pores of the skin, and help cleanse the energy channels in the body, remove toxins and balance energy centers. The style and sequence of Ayurvedic massage are determined individually. The massage therapist uses a variety of massage techniques, including tapping, kneading and squeezing, as well as traditional massage movements. The flow of movements can be fast or slow. In some cases, massage technique is combined with therapies like herbal hot compress and oil pouring to get a optimum outcome of the therapy.

In Atreya Ayurveda, you can choose any type of massage and our Ayurveda doctor will give you a free 15-minute consultation, during which special massage oil that is suitable for you will be selected. Also during the consultation, you will be able to discuss with the doctor possible contraindications to the procedures and receive recommendations on which massage is best suited for you.
The duration of the session is from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the type of massage.
